No trip to the Edison National Historic Site would be complete without a tour of "Glenmont", the home of Edison and his second wife Mina, from 1886, until his death in 1931. Glenmont was built in the early 1880's for a department store accountant who, it was discovered, embezzled the funds to build and furnish the house. Wanting to quickly settle the "embarrassment", the store bought the completed and fully furnished house for the sum of one dollar! Edison bought the house two years later (for about $175,000) and, with the exception of some paintings, and other artworks, changed very little.

This plaque is mounted outside, and to the right of Glenmont's main entrance.
This beautiful stained glass window decorates the main stairway to the second floor
Edison's bedroom, though many stories would lead us to believe that he spent many a night working or sleeping in his lab or office
In the back of the house can be seen the side-by-side graves of Edison and his wife Mina.
